1/4 riksdaler specie, Stockholm, Karl XIV Johan, 1832
When the riksdaler specie coins were introduced in 1830-1831, a new riksdaler series was started at the same time. From having had the denominations 1, 1/3 and 1/6 riksdaler, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/12 and 1/16 riksdaler specie were introduced instead. The engraver behind the new series was Ludvig Persson Lundgren at the Royal Mint in Stockholm. However, it is not his initials that can be read under the small coat of arms on the reverse, but those of the mint master Christopher Borg, ‘C.B’.
