1/2 riksdaler, Stockholm, Adolf Fredrik, 1767
This ½ riksdaler dating back to 1767 presents an innovation in the production of silver coins. This was the year in which the denomination, or the value of the coin, began to be indicated on all silver coins. Previously it was only shows on coins from 1 öre to 4 mark.
Copper coins, on the other hand, had had the denomination printed on them ever since they were first produced in 1624. It is very rare for gold coins to have the denomination printed on them. It is only found on ¼ ducat, 10 carolin and gold crown coins.
