1 daler silvermynt, Stockholm, Karl XII, 1718
This emergency coin featuring Mercury, god of trade and merchants, was issued in December 1718. King Karl XII of Sweden was killed shortly before during the war in Norway, on 30 November 1718. This was the last emergency coin bearing the names of gods, and twice the number of the previous ones were issued.
The coin depicts Mercury holding a winged staff in his right hand, while his left hand is empty. Even his helmet and shoes have wings. The denomination is shown within a decorated circle.
