2 öre, Stockholm, Oscar II, 1906
After the dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway in 1905, King Oscar II changed his motto from ‘The Good of the Brethren’ to ‘The Good of Sweden’. For this reason, new dies had to be engraved for the king's coin series.
On the obverse of the coin we can read the new motto SVERIGES VÄL, The Good of Sweden, above the king's crowned monogram O II. This type was only struck for two years, as Oscar II died in 1907 and was succeeded by his son Gustav V in the same year.
