100 kronor, Tumba, Sveriges riksbank, 1986

This 100-krona banknote featuring Carl Linnaeus was first issued in 1986. It was a year after the so-called ‘November Revolution’, which liberalised the Swedish financial market. 1986 was also the year when foreign banks were allowed to operate freely in Sweden for the first time. In the latter part of the 1980s, the Swedish financial market expanded along with the property sector. In the early 1990s, this had severe consequences as Sweden was hit by a property, banking and financial crisis. All at the same time.

A new version of this 100-krona banknote was launched in 2001 with improved security features.
