Kungl. Maj:ts Ständers Bank, 1692
This is what is known as a cash note, which was issued by the bank to anyone who made a cash deposit.
Despite the clear instruction on the cash note to “proceed with this note to the bookkeeper promptly and without delay”, like bookkeeper’s notes they were used as a convenient means of payment.
The use of cash notes as a banknote substitute only died out in the 1740s when transport notes for fixed amounts were issued.
