10 riksdaler riksmynt, Borås Enskilda Bank, 1866
Borås Enskilda Bank in Västergötland began operating in 1866 and was primarily a bank for the district’s industrial companies. The bank issued banknotes in several denominations, first in riksdaler riksmynt and later in kronor.
All the notes issued by the bank have a woman as a vignette, possibly the spinning Norse goddess Frigg, and the coat of arms of the city of Borås. The city is seen in the background. This banknote dating back to 1866, worth 10 riksdaler riksmynt, was issued under the first charter, i.e. the right to conduct banking operations, which was valid until 1876. This banknote was printed at the J. Bagge printing works in Stockholm.
The bank issued banknotes between 1866 and 1894 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1902.
