1 taler, Pommern-Stettin, Kristina, 1641
Most of the Duchy of Pomerania became Swedish during the 30 Years’ War and due to the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. This taler was issued by Queen Kristina and minted in Stettin, the capital of Swedish Pomerania.
This coin tells the tale of Swedish supremacy and the history of Pomerania as well. On the obverse (front), we see the image of the Swedish sovereign, inspired by the portrait on the Swedish riksdaler. On the reverse (back) is the ten-field ducal coat of arms of Pomerania, showing the different areas that have come together to form Pomerania.
