The Royal Academy of Agriculture´s large gold medal
The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture was founded in 1811 and installed on 28 January 1813 on the initiative of Crown Prince Carl Johan, later King Karl XIV Johan.
The Academy's mission was to promote agriculture and related activities based on science and practical experience. In 1956, the Academy expanded its forestry activities and changed its name to Royal Swedish Academy of Forestry and Agriculture (KSLA).
Many of today's agricultural institutions have their origins in the Academy; the Ministry of Agriculture, the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the Swedish Research Council Formas are some of them.
