Plow model - Field model

In the 1840s, factory-made ploughs of the American type replace the old home-made ploughs in the Swedish countryside. The so-called Åkers plough, which was a direct copy of the American plough ‘The eagle’. This plough had a short, wide and steep turning disc that was cast at the Åkers mill. It was a cheap and easy-to-use plough that was popular into the 20th century. The model of the Åkers plough is on loan from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
