2 öre silvermynt, Avesta, Fredrik I, 1744
The 2 öring coin on display was struck in Avesta. On the obverse (front), we see King Fredrik I’s monogram “F I” and his title, abbreviated in Latin: “S G V R”. This stands for “King of the Swedes, the Goths and the Wend”. On the obverse, we also see three crowns and a shield bearing the Göta lion. On the reverse (back), we see a crown over crossed Dalecarlian arrows, the denomination “2 ÖR SM” and the year 1744.
Kopparmynt coins were minted in both Avesta and Stockholm during the reign of Fredrik I. 2 and 1 öre silvermynt coins and 1 öre kopparmynt coins were minted in Avesta. 1 and ½ öre silvermynt coins and 1 öre kopparmynt coins were minted in Stockholm.
