Medal commemorating the victory at the battle at Breitenfeldt 1631
The Battle of Breitenfeldt took place in 1631, during the Thirty Years’ War. A Swedish-Saxon army led by King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden fought against the German-Roman Imperial Army and the Catholic League. The Swedish-Saxon army emerged victorious thanks to Swedish battle tactics, and the imperial military advantage was broken. More than 13,000 soldiers from both sides fell in this battle.
