1/4 daler, Stockholm, Karl, riksföreståndare, 1600
On this coin, the regent Karl has taken his place behind the Great Coat of Arms and is visible from the waist up. Karl is holding a sceptre in his right hand, and his left hand is holding the crown of the Great Coat of Arms next to the orb and cross. This motif is found on several of Karl's daler coins from the time when he was Riksföreståndare, i.e. provisional regent. On the reverse of the coin we see the name of God, Jehovah, written in Hebrew and Karl's motto "FORTITUDO MEA JEHOVAH", which can be translated as "God (is) my strength".
