1 riksdaler, Stockholm, Stockholm, Gustav III, 1771
From 1766, the Swedish currency daler was linked to the international currency riksdaler. 3 daler silver coins were now officially equivalent to 1 riksdaler and both were divided into 96 öre. On the edge of the coin is the text ""MANIBUS NE LAEDAR AVARIS"", which translates as ""May I not be harmed by greedy hands"". The inscription was intended to protect the coin from having its edge cut off in order to steal silver.
