5 riksdaler riksmynt, Enskilda Banken I Venersborg, 1865
Enskilda Banken i Wenersborg, Västergötland, began operating in 1865. The vignette on this banknote shows the coat of arms of the port town of Vänersborg, a ship, under a royal crown.
The banknotes issued in 1865 in 5, 10, 50 and 100 riksdaler riksmynt denominations are the bank’s oldest notes. They were printed by P. A. Nyman in Stockholm. Later, 5- and 10-krona banknotes were printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co, London.
The bank issued banknotes from 1865 to 1879 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1902.
