1/3 riksdaler, Stockholm, Gustav III, 1777
With King Gustav III's coinage reform, which took place in 1776 and came into force on 1 January 1777, the former international riksdaler became the main coin of Swedish coinage, replacing the daler. 1 riksdaler had the same value as 3 daler.
During a transitional period, both denominations were printed on the coins. As on the exhibited coin, where 1/3 riksdaler (1/3 R:D) is written together with 1 daler silver coin (1 D S M).
