5 öre, Stockholm, Gustaf VI Adolf, 1972
In 1972, Sweden got a new 5-öre coin. The coin was made of bronze, just like before, but much smaller than before. The diameter had gone down from 26 millimetres to 17 millimetres and the weight of the new coin was 2.68 grams instead of 8 grams. The new 5-öre coin was minted for two years, in 1972 and 1973. After the death of King Gustav VI Adolf in 1973, it was not until 1976 that the new King Carl XVI Gustaf's 5-öre coins began to be issued.
