The shortage of coins led to many of Stockholm Banco’s various kinds of service forms being used as means of payment. The deposit slip on display is an example of such a form.

This misuse began before banknotes were even invented. But even after the introduction of banknotes in 1661, the bank’s customers continued to use other types of vouchers as means of payment.
