5 öre, Stockholm, Gustaf VI Adolf, 1961
This is the first of the two 5 öre coin types issued during the reign of Gustav VI Adolf (1950-1973). The first type was issued in 1952, two years after Gustav VI Adolf became king, and the second in 1972, at the end of his reign.
The first 5 öre coin was designed by the sculptor and ceramicist Robert Nilsson (1894-1980) from Höganäs in Skåne. He was also responsible for the design of the 2 and 1 öre coins that came out in the same year.
