5 riksdaler riksmynt, Stockholms enskilda bank, 1860

Stockholms Enskilda Bank was founded in 1856 by A.O. Wallenberg and was one of Sweden’s largest private banks. The bank issued banknotes in riksdaler riksmynt initially, and in kronor from 1876.

These banknotes show the coat of arms of the city of Stockholm with Erik the Holy. The higher denominations also include the Royal Palace in Stockholm and Mother Svea. This 50-krona note from 1876 was printed by P. A. Nymans Boktryckeri in Stockholm; other banknotes were printed in New York and London.

The bank issued banknotes from 1856 to 1878 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1902.
