1 öre, Arboga, Gustav II Adolf, 1627

In 1627, round copper coins began to be produced in Arboga, Säter and Nyköping. In total, around 100 million round coins were produced that year at the three mints. The mintmaster in Arboga, i.e. the person in charge of the mint, was Caspar Hedwiger. At the bottom of the reverse of the coin, in the legend below the Arboga eagle, we can see his mintmaster's mark. The Arboga mint was originally owned by Kopparkompaniet, the Swedish trading company, but in 1628 the state took over the business and closed it down in the same year.
