1 dukat, Stockholm, Gustav IV Adolf, 1796
The gold for this ducat comes from a mine in Ädelfors in Småland. We can identify its origin by the depiction of the provincial coat of arms of Småland, a lion with a crossbow, at the bottom of the reverse of the coin. Gold mining began in the late 1730s and between 1743 and 1801, around 18,000 ducats were minted in gold from Småland.
