2 mark, Stockholm, Karl X Gustav, 1659
The first 2-mark coins struck by King Karl X Gustav have the same reverse as Queen Kristina's last 2-mark coins. Three solitary crowns, the denomination written in Roman numerals, II M(ARK), and Michel Hack's mintmaster mark, two crossed glow hooks. The reverse was engraved by Petter Michelsson.
This coin is of a different type. In 1659, Göran Wagner was the mintmaster (the person who led the work in the mint) and it is his mintmark G W we see under the three crowns. In addition, the new engraver Johan Rethe has added the minting year 1659.
