10 riksdaler riksmynt, Uplands Enskilda Bank, 1865
In 1864, Uplands Enskilda Bank was granted a charter, i.e. the right to conduct banking activities, for ten years, with the right to issue its own banknotes in riksdaler riksmynt. Operations began the following year, in 1865, and the bank was based in Uppsala and had branches in other cities.
The 10-riksdaler riksmynt note from 1865 shown here features the Uppland coat of arms with the orb and symbols of the industries.
This banknote was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co in London. The bank issued banknotes from 1865 to 1874 and gave up its right to issue banknotes in 1903.
