50 öre riksmynt, Stockholm, Oscar I, 1857
When the decimal system was introduced in 1855, the öre came back after a pause since 1778. The öre had first been minted in 1522 for King Gustav Vasa and thereafter by all rulers until King Gustav III. Initially, öre coins were struck in silver and from the 17th century also in copper. When King Oscar I resumed minting the öre, it was struck in both silver and bronze. And 100 öre became equal to 1 riksdaler riksmynt.
