1/8 riksdaler specie, Stockholm, Oscar I, 1852
When the riksdaler specie series began to be minted in the 1830s, the denomination 1/8 riksdaler returned after not having been minted since 1768. Both King Karl XVI Johan and King Oscar I had 1/8 riksdaler minted before the denomination disappeared in 1855 when riksdaler riksmynt replaced riksdaler specie.
1/8 specie, like all riksdaler coins, has King Oscar I's portrait and title on the obverse (front) and on the reverse ( back) the great coat of arms within the wreath of the Order of Seraphim, the denomination, the year of minting and the king's motto: ‘right and truth’.
