1 krona, Carl XVI Gustaf, 2016
This new variant of the 1-krona denomination started to be issued in 2016, replacing the old ones as legal tender as of 30 June 2017. The coin is copper-coloured, unlike the previous silver-coloured one-krona coins. The new one-krona is also smaller.
The King's portrait, name and title together with the year of issue and the engraver's initial ‘EN’ (Ernst Nordin) adorn one side of the coin. On the other side is the denomination, together with the small coat of arms and the initials of the place of issue, Stockholm (‘S’) and the then Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, Stefan Ingves (‘SI’). Around all this is a ring of shorter rays, symbolising a solar corona.
