Gustav Vasa’s new money
Several new coin denominations were introduced in Sweden during the reign of Gustav Vasa. The öre, mark and daler began to be minted. Daler coins were inspired by the German thaler coin (18) and were mainly used when trading with other countries. Some of the silver in the coins came from the silver mine in Sala.
